What is the Nutrition Intuition?

Welcome to my first blog! When sitting and writing at my laptop I always imagine Sarah Jessica Parker sitting in her New York apartment (iykyk), so I'm taking inspiration from her haha!
Let's kick off this blog by talking about the Nutrition Intuition, what it is and how it came to find me! So imagine I'm doing my Masters at uni (big up Leeds Beckett), and I'm really wanting to start a nutrition page to help other people get out of diet culture. I need a name and I'd rather have something new and inventive. But also something that resonates with my journey. I remember cleaning the bathroom and the name just pops into my head 'The Nutrition Intuition.' I wasn't even thinking of a name at that point, I truly believe that name was chosen for me.
But what does it mean and how does it relate to me? In my whole adult life I've been a yo-yo dieter. Tried every diet you could think of, all to shrink myself and flatten my personality. In lockdown I came across this book that completely changed my way of thinking. It was called 'How to have you cake and your skinny jeans too.' I actually realised for the first time in my whole life that you don't need to diet to lose weight or improve your health.
After this, I healed my relationship with food (which was a very slow process but absolutely worth it) and became an intuitive eater. It absolutely changed my life. So the name really resonated with where I'm going with this and how I can help people get off the dieting train and really improve people's health.
So that's part of my journey but I will of course delve deeper blog by blog. To summarise, you don't need to diet to meet your nutrition goals. In fact diets can have a negative effect on people in the long term, but more about that later.
